Guiseley Rangers played their second summer merit league fixture away at Barnsley and received a setback to the team's ambitions.

Rangers made nine positional changes to the previous week but cannot make that an excuse foe r a poor defensive display.

Things started well in the first quarter Ranger s carving out four or five good positions but the final pass let them down.

On the other hand Barnsley played then simple build up completed their sets and made rangers pay.

The second half did not improve much for Rangers the attempted tackles got higher but to no effect.

Nathan Smith and Thomas Wilson did show some light, Nathan rounding off some good handling and scoring behind the posts and Thomas racing way from half way eluding tacklers to score.

Josh Roberts converted both tries.

Next up for Rangers is a home game against Junior Saracens from Slaithwaite on Saturday, June 13, kick off at Nunroyd is 2.30pm.
