A woman was dragged to the ground and punched in the face by a violent robber who tried to steal her handbag.
She was walking along Ings Lane in Guiseley when the man approached her from behind and pulled her over, at about 11.45pm on Saturday, November 21.

He tried to grab her bag and when she resisted, he brutally punched her in the face.

A passer-by disturbed her attacker and she was then able to escape and raise the alarm.

The robber was described as about 5ft 7in tall, slim but muscular, with short dark hair. He was wearing jeans.

Police are appealing for witnesses and detectives are particularly keen to hear from the person who disturbed him.

Anyone who saw the incident or who has any information should contact Det Con Jonathan Carter at Weetwood police station via 0845 6060606 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
