Town had the upper hand on Kittrick's men last season, defeating their rivals three times at Nethermoor, the venue for this evening's clash (kick-off 7.45pm).

League, FA Trophy and West Riding County Cup defeats were suffered and Kittrick is aware his side face a tough test to end the curse.

The match will also be an emotional occasion for Kittrick, who held the reins at Ingfield for three years before joining Guiseley in December 2007 and he is anticipating a friendly reunion.

He said: "I am looking forward to it because Ossett were our bogey team last year.

"I couldn't put my finger on it and even in one game we were winning 3-0 and still lost.

"It will be a difficult game and obviously they have new management staff since we last played them.

"Paul Lines is their manager and he is formerly our reserve team manager so he will be out to prove a point.

"He's also got Mick Couzens at the side of him and he guided Bradford Park Avenue reserves to the top of their league last season.

"They didn't play on Saturday so they will be fired up and injuries they had from last Tuesday will have healed."

Kittrick added: "I'm expecting a good reception from the Ossett people as I have no axe to grind with them and I don't think they have one with me.

"I left in the right way, they were sixth in the league and nearly two years later they are still in the Premier Division."

Guiseley suffered a 3-2 defeat to Ashton United at the weekend – their first reverse of the season – and Kittrick was disappointed to lose as he felt the points should have been wrapped up at the interval.
Former Town striker James Walshaw had given the Lions the lead and Martin McIntosh had made it 2-1 before the break, but a second-half collapse followed.

"I thought we played well on Saturday but we took our foot off the gas and paid the price for it," said Kittrick.

"We have a few higher-level players and they need to learn that in this league, teams never give up and stop playing.

"It should have been over at half-time but we got caught out."
Guiseley will have to cope without prolific hitman Walshaw for 35 days from next Monday due to a red card recieved during a Sunday league match – Kittrick is confident his side can.

He said: "Wally still has two games to play before he starts his suspension but we still have good players around the club.

"Nathan Joynes played well on Saturday and Lee Tuck and Luke Malcher have done alright.

"Although Wally is a very good player, the team is not all about him."
